Toshiba scandal shows Japan Inc.’s governance flaws

Toshiba’s billion-dollar accounting scandal has shone a light on a corporate culture in Japan still beset by
collusion in its senior ranks, unquestioning employees and poor external controls, experts say.
The vast 140-year-old conglomerate was hammered this week by embarrassing revelations that top
executives pressured underlings to inflate profits by about $1.2 billion since the 2008 global financial
crisis.
An independent report, which found senior managers complicit in the affair, pointed to the rigid system
that powered Japan’s post-war boom — lifetime employment in exchange for complete loyalty to the
company.
“If you look at management, you generally find people over 50 who have spent their career at the
company, climbing up through the ranks,” said Keio University guest lecturer Takeshi Natsuno, a former
executive at mobile giant NTT Docomo.
“For 30 years they all ate from the same bowl. Everyone knows it isn’t good but so far nothing has
changed.”
It wasn’t supposed to be that way at Toshiba, which was hailed as one of the early leaders in changing
Japan’s clubby boardroom culture.
The vast firm, which had sales of $54 billion last fiscal year, hired outside directors and adopted a 16-
member board a decade ago, among other changes, to “enhance management efficiency and improve
transparency”.
But the scathing report — commissioned by the company after financial regulators questioned Toshiba’s
books earlier this year — found a litany of problems, including a pair of former diplomats on its audit
committee who were not up to the task.
Japanese firms are peppered with former bureaucrats given plum jobs in the industries that they once
oversaw, despite many having few relevant skills or the incentive to question management.
“Only one of the three external directors on the audit committee is well-versed in financial matters, in a
company that we now see had succumbed to the Japanese tendency to not question orders from above,”
said Nicholas Benes, head of the non-profit Board Director Training Institute of Japan.
– ‘Shameful results’ –
Benes was a key player behind Japan’s long-awaited corporate governance code, which came into effect
less than two months ago.
It was hailed as a way to boost trust with foreign investors and avoid scandals such as the $1.7 billion
accounting fraud at camera giant Olympus several years ago, one of Japan’s worst ever.
Toshiba, whose shares dived after the problems came to light, remains on a 400-member index that
highlights firms with the best return on equity and other shareholder-friendly criteria.
“It is outrageous that a major company that represents Japan repeatedly padded its profits on a
corporate-wide basis,” the top-selling Yomiuri newspaper said in an editorial.
About half Toshiba’s board resigned Tuesday with president Hisao Tanaka and vice chairman Norio Sasaki
— also a former president — the most senior to quit their posts.
Headed by a former Tokyo prosecutor, the investigating panel described a corporate culture where
underlings could not challenge powerful bosses intent on boosting profits at almost any cost.
While the scandals at Enron and WorldCom in the United States are reminders that accounting fraud is not
just a Japanese problem, the country’s corporate traditions enabled the years-long scheme at Toshiba,
observers said.
And “the problem is not unique to Toshiba — in many Japanese firms the attitude is not to oppose the
bosses”, wrote Hitoshi Kujiraoka, a journalist at the Asahi newspaper.
Best known for televisions and electronics, including the world’s first laptop personal computer and DVD
player, the massive company has more than 200,000 employees globally and also operates in power
transmission and medical equipment.
Its business was dented by the financial crisis, while the 2011 Fukushima disaster squashed demand for
atomic power at home in a big blow to Toshiba’s key nuclear division.
Top executives complained of “shameful results” that could not be made public, while the report said
former president Atsutoshi Nishida had demanded an unrealistic profit in the personal computer division.
“It’s tough, but we must do it,” he said in 2008, according to the report.
– Closer scrutiny –
Kaoru Kamisaka, head of financial information consultancy Japan Economic Pulse, said the new
governance code will put firms under the microscope.
“Institutional investors are keeping a closer eye on companies so there won’t be a repeat,” Kamisaka said.
Benes from the director training institute said the Toshiba scandal was likely to be a “bump in the road”
toward better governance.
“I do not think such hidden icebergs are rife among Japanese companies, but this will serve a stern
warning bell to other companies that ‘it can happen to anyone’, and that director skill sets matter,” he
added.
“Just because you were the ambassador to Brazil, does not mean you are fit for the audit committee.”

Snoop Dogg arrested by Swedish police on suspicion of illegal drugs use

US rapper Snoop Dogg was briefly arrested by Swedish police on suspicion of using illegal drugs, police
sources said Sunday.
“Police carrying out roadside controls noticed that Snoop Dogg (whose car was pulled over) seemed to be
under the influence of narcotics. He was arrested and taken to the police station to take a urine test,” said
Daniel Nilsson, a police spokesman for the central Uppsala region.
The incident happened after the
celebrity rapper gave a concert in
the area on Saturday night.
“The incident lasted several
minutes. Once the test was carried
out he left,” Nilsson added.
The test results were not
immediately available.
It is far from the 43-year-old music
star’s first brush with the law.
Snoop Dogg’s song lyrics often
display his fondness for marijuana and he has previously had run-ins with police elsewhere over the drug.

Etisalat BIS Now Working On Non-BB Devices

Yes
Have it

How to use Etisalat BIS on Android device...
may be some folks who still don't know about it.
What is this post about:
ETIBABA BISANDROID means
1k sub = 3.75G = 1 month = 1k+ bonus credit.
This has been on for sometime now. Let me give you guys the lowdown. Here we go................
1. Sub for Etibaba BIS using any fone of ur choice i. e. It ain't imperative that u use a bb device.
Now to do this, there are two methods involved. Both methods work perfectly well, however the text
message method has the added bonus of one being given back his recharge card value as bonus
credit i.e. Recharge 1k and get 1k bonus back. Note however that this is a general rule and not
necessarily a hard and fast rule.
1a. TEXT MSG METHOD: Send COM to 399
1b. USSD METHOD: Dial *499*3#
N.B. After this, Etibaba automatically activates the monthly BIS plan for you by default every month
after ur data plan expires.
Also note that unlike other networks in 9ja, Etibaba gives a refund if one decides against subscribing
for the BIS plan and even reward you with extra credit for this. # Ain't this just wonderfully great. I
mean just in case it doesn't work for you, [through no fault of mine, but solely your fault, becos dis
trick is confirmer confirmento ☺] you can actually get your credit back and even more with extra
bonus credit.
To cancel or opt-out of the monthly auto-subscription dial *399*2#
This comes in handy for those who might exhaust their data before it expires. To resubscribe, you
1st have to
opt-out.
To check you data balance dial *228#
For those skeptics who have doubts abt the genuineness of this tweak and would wanna tryout the
daily plans, here you go:- however know dat i hv personally not tried d daily or weekly plans.
For daily sub Send COD to 399. However know dat it is capped @ 50mb.
Fo weekly sub send COW to 399. However know dat it is capped @ 500mb.
Thanks.
2. Next is a little tweaking of your android device access point name APN. Go to settings > more >
mobile networks > APN > Choose Etibaba [ if u are using a dual sim device]
2a. Create a new APN using the settings below
Name: Etibaba
APN: blackberry.net
Proxy : 10.71.170.5
Port : 8080 or 9021
SAVE THIS NEW PROFILE. AND SELECT IT AS UR DEFAULT CONFIGURATION.
NOW YOU ARE DONE, AS IN SHIKENAN. SURF AS U DEEM FIT. For all the above mentioned steps,
you don't need to have root access for it to work. This is in contrast to the Glo Bis android plan.
YOU CAN NOW BROWSE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WHATSAPP MESSENGER.
3. For those who intend to use Whatsapp messenger, there is an extra step as explained below.
3a. You must be rooted
3b. Install either Proxydroid or Autoproxy apk from playstore.
3c. Power your Whatsapp by setting the above apps as below :
Host: 10.71.170.5
Port:8080 or 9021
Proxy type : HTTP
Tick Auto connect [ start proxy when specified network is available]. This ensures u don't have to
manually start ur proxy app every time.
Dats all. Its done and dusted with.
For light users who don't surf much, you can enjoy ur data b4 it expires by downloading
from Youtube.com or other video sites using the SS prefix method. Of course ucweb browser is the
best in this regard cos of its inbuilt download manager.

1985 Coup: Dasuki Denies Arresting Buhari

Embattled former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki has denied arresting President Muhammadu
Buhari, shortly after he was overthrown as a Military Head of State in August 1985.
He also said he had supported Buhari’s presidential aspiration in 2003, 2007 and 2011.
He said he knelt down in 2011 for the former National Chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria
(ACN), Chief Bisi Akande, to make Buhari a joint candidate of the ACN and the defunct Congress of
Peoples Congress (CPC).
Col. Dasuki made the clarifications in an interview during an encounter with a blogger and the Publisher of
the Economic Confidential, Mr. Yushau Shuaib.
The piece is titled: “Sambo Dasuki: An Encounter with the spymaster”.
He spoke against the backdrop of insinuations that his house arrest might have to do with a retaliation of
a similar maltreatment against Buhari in 1985.
The ex-NSA also spoke against the backdrop that he attempted to truncate the election of President
Muhammadu Buhari in March and inauguration on May 29.
In the extracts of the encounter between the two, Dasuki said: “I always respect and dignify my seniors
and those in positions of authority, whether in service or after. Though as a young officer, I was reluctant
to be among those that arrested him. And I was not.
“I only met him afterward at Bonny Camp with Lawal Rafindadi. There is no way I could have maltreated
him as being alleged in some quarters. I am glad most of the actors are still alive.”
On the December 1983 coup d’etat, Dasuki admitted that he and two young military officers (who are still
alive) ‘travelled to Jos to brief Major General Buhari, who was then the GOC of 3rd Armoured Division on
the furtherance of the planning of the 1983 coup which made Buhari the major beneficiary of the ouster of
the elected President Shehu Shagari.’
The journalist added: “He even told me how Buhari expressed his bitterness about insinuations on his
stewardship in one of the public institutions. Dasuki assured the then GOC not to worry about such
reckless and mischievous insinuations.
I asked why he participated in the ouster of Buhari just less than two years afterward. He simply answered
that General Buhari should know whom he should blame.”
Asked why he participated in the ouster of Buhari just less than two years afterward, Dasuki simply
answered that “General Buhari should know whom he should blame.”
He said he had been part of Buhari’s presidential aspiration in 2003, 2007 and 2011.
He said Nigerians could verify from respected Northerners, such as Adamu Adamu, Bashir Kurfi, Wada
Maida, Sule Hamman and Kabir Yusuf among others.
The journalist added: “The major shocker for me in his narratives was his campaign for Buhari to emerge
the joint candidate of ACN and CPC in 2011. He disclosed how he pleaded with Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu in
the presence of Bisi Akande to accept Muhammad Buhari as the joint presidential candidate for ACN and
CPC.
“Dasuki stated that he knelt down, begging ‘Baba Bisi Akande’ who was then the National Chairman of
ACN that ‘General Buhari is a man to be trusted’.
“In their belief that Yoruba and South Westerners are never religious fanatics especially regarding politics,
Dasuki and his group suggested that Tinubu should be a running mate to Buhari.
“When other elements opposed that proposition, Tinubu team therefore recommended a Buhari-Osinbajo
ticket. Unfortunately, the ticket failed to stick as Pastor Tunde Bakare was eventually pushed forward by
other forces.”
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was later to be Buhari’s running mate in 2015 and the nation’s current Vice President.
On the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which was won by the late Chief M.K.O.
Abiola, Dasuki said he was one of those who confronted the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.
The journalist said: “Dasuki told me the story of how he and some others confronted late Gen. Sani
Abacha over June 12 election which was won by Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola (MKO). This led to
their premature retirement.
“The persecution that followed forced him into exile where he teamed up with opposition elements
struggling for the return of democracy in Nigeria.”

I Trust Buhari, He Has Integrity & A Clear Agenda – Obama

President Barack Obama has praised President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts at
working to bring “safety, security and peace” to Nigeria and Nigeria.
At a joint press conference at the Oval Office in Washington DC, Obama said
President Buhari had “a very clear agenda in defeating Boko Haram and extremists
of all sorts inside of his country.
And he has a very clear agenda in terms of rooting out the corruption that too often
has held back the economic growth and prosperity of his country.”
Speaking to reporters at the outset of the meeting, Obama said the US hoped to
partner with Nigeria “so that Nigeria ends up being not only an anchor of prosperity
and stability in the eastern part of the continent, but can also be an outstanding role
model for developing countries around the world.”
Obama said, “It is a great pleasure to welcome President Buhari and his delegation
here in the White House for his first visit since the historic election that took place.
Nigeria is obviously one of the most important countries in the World, one of the
most important countries in the African continent.
“Recently we saw an election in which a peaceful transition to a new government
took place.
Nevertheless, the people of Nigeria understand that only through a peaceful political
process that change can take place.
President Buhari came into office with reputation for integrity and a very clear
agenda, that is, to make sure that he has been bringing safety, security and peace to
his country.
“He is very concerned about the spread and the violence that is taking place there
and the atrocities, and has a very clear agenda in defeating Boko Haram and
extremists.
I want to emphasize how much I appreciate President Buhari’s work so far. I have
seen him put together a team so that we can do everything that we can to help him
succeed and help the people of Nigeria succeed.”
Pressures From US Made Jonathan Conduct Credible Polls In Nigeria – Buhari
Meanwhile, Buhari has asserted that the continued pressure on former President
Goodluck Jonathan by the United States and some European countries forced his
administration to conduct free and fair general elections in Nigeria.

Kendall Jenner Bares A Lot Of Side Boob — But No Nip Slip — In Her Very Low Cut Top

Don't take another step!
Kendall Jenner was spotted out and about in West Hollywood on Tuesday, where she almost suffered a
wardrobe malfunction.
The 19-year-old's white blouse had such a deep V, that she was just a breeze away from having her
very own nip slip!

What are Your Thoughts on this Post?

Should she have driven to their date location or should the man have gone to pick her up?

Something Urgent to Ponder On..

lmaoo...
Good morning, good morning to you all sweethearts. Okija Wife, Lord Flacko, how was your night darlings?
*winks* Hope you all are ready for the day?

Amy Schumer Is Anything But A Trainwreck At Her Big Screen Debut — Also Starring Side Boob!

This is gonna be a game changer.
In what's probably our most anticipated movie of the year, Trainwreck premiered in New York on
Tuesday, and Amy Schumer certainly impressed!
For her big screen debut, the 34-year-old actress went glam with an over-the-shoulder pose that
showed off her side boob perfectly.
Her LBD stood out thanks to the leather bodice above a woven bottom which paired nicely with her
popping eye makeup.

DMX Sentenced To Six Months In Jail For Failing To Pay Child Support!

While we knew that DMX was arrested for failure to pay child support at the end of June, it looks like the
court system has finalized its ruling.
The 44-year-old was sentenced to six months in a Buffalo prison on Tuesday after he was picked up by
cops right before he was scheduled to play a concert at the Radio City Music Hall .
This is definitely going to be a hard time for him, but this actually isn't the first time he's been behind
bars.

Most recently, DMX spent seven months behind bars in 2011, so this half-year term should feel like
nothing!

Amazing moment two lions attack & kill an Antelope while tourists watch from their cars

The moment two lions pursued an antelope from the bushes into a road at a
game reserve in South Africa was captured on camera by British tourist, Carolyn
Dunford. And amazingly, the tourists who were passing through in a convoy
when the incident happened wound down their car windows to watch the
spectacle.
This is surprising to say the least because just recently, a tourist was attacked
and killed when a lion jumped into her car from her open car window at a
Games Reserve. Guess these ones didn't hear that story. Anyway, the lions did
kill the Antelope.

This Musician Calls Kim Kardashian The C-Word While Blasting Her Rolling Stone Cover! Woah!

Sinead O'Connor is NOT happy about Kim Kardashian's Rolling Stone cover.
The 48-year-old completely slammed the magazine's decision to feature the famous reality star on the
cover of the music-centric publication .
[ Related: Kim Announces 'It's Gonna Pop!' ]
She took to Facebook to share a photo of the seductive shot, while blasting RS , the music industry, and
Kimmy Kakes in an expletive-ridden caption.
The Irish singer even called the expecting momma a pretty nasty name, writing:
"What is this c*nt doing on the cover of Rolling Stone ? Music has officially died. Who knew it would
be Rolling Stone that murdered it? Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh can no longer be expected to
take all the blame. Bob Dylan must be f*cking horrified. #BoycottRollingStone"
Woah!
The musician clearly has some really strong, reeeeeeally negative feelings about the 34-year-old in
general, let alone her appearance in the publication's pages.
We understand that not everyone loves the famous family, but there's really no need to use such
offensive words!
And if we're being completely honest, Rolling Stone is a magazine dedicated to entertainment biz news.
Sure, it mostly focuses on music and artists, but not exclusively.
So, since Kim is a huge figure in the entertainment world, why not put her on the cover?

Customer shades the heck out of Airtel on twitter...lol

Lol. Choi! Some people have no chill. So Airtel told the customer that they have
followed him on Twitter so he can send them a direct message and the guy
replied saying he's trying to follow back but their network is not letting him
(meaning it's slow or not going at all) and would use a competitor's network
to follow them. Boom! And Airtel was so gracious in their response! Nice one!

PDP urges Buhari against cosmetic governance...says ‘Let your works speak for you’

Press statement from the PDP...
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a responsible political party made a promise to President
Muhammadu Buhari that it would not get involved in distracting or detracting him from delivering
good governance to the Nigerian people. This has informed our restrained position on a number of
issues that ordinarily we would have made comments on.
However, because of the overzealousness of your spokespersons and some members of your party, the All
Progressives Congress (APC) in dramatizing some imaginary achievements of your administration in a
space of one month, there is need to put the records straight.
We believe that one month is such a short time to assess any government, however when this
administration and your party started rolling out premature scorecards of imaginary achievements, it
became necessary for us and indeed most Nigerians to X-ray them.
We need to bring to your notice certain indices that if not properly corrected are capable of derailing the
smooth running of your administration. It is incontrovertible that instead of focusing on the promises you
made to Nigerians and on policy thrusts that will move our economy forward, the ruling party has been
made to be very high on propaganda, deceitful engagement and cosmetic governance.
We believe you should extricate yourself from these agents of propaganda who continue to believe that
Nigerians would be swayed by these cosmetic interventions instead of real business of government.
As the leader of the most populous black nation in the world, we believe you should not allow your
Presidency to be pushed into the gimmicks of playing to the gallery and attempting to use the
dramatization of promissory notes and pledges by foreign interests, false premature claims of victory
against insurgency, dramatization of salary cut and rejection of official cars, all to gain cheap popularity
and create an impression that the government is on course when in the actual fact, the new administration
has not been able to locate a bearing since its inauguration in May.
While we appreciate the symbolic gesture by Mr. President in ‘cutting’ his N14 million annual basic salary
by 50 percent, it should be noted that Nigerians would not be wavered by the N7million annual donation
and rejection of official cars, and forget their expectations for the implementation of his long list of
campaign promises for which he was elected into office.
The Presidency should know that these orchestration, no matter how populist it may seem does not in any
way address the burning issues of employment, worsening security situation, decline in the economy,
avoidable inactivity in government businesses, and continued apparent slide of the naira which has dipped
from under N200 to the dollar in May to an all time low of N238 under the APC administration among
others.
Moreover, Nigerians cannot be overwhelmed by the gestures especially given that they are pretty aware
that the salary is a mere drop in the ocean of personal allowances and privileges that come to the
president. They cannot therefore be deluded by impressions aimed to make government appear to be on
course when it has only been a case of all motion, no movement, spiced with unnecessary excuses.
Nigerians, going by feelers have not been thrilled by such orchestrations as other leaders who at one time
or the other adopted similar stance did not dither or become laidback, but hit the ground running with
governance. What the citizens want is a government that is urgent in living up to its billings and campaign
promises.
Instead of allowing his government to be taken over by needless showmanship, Mr. President must realize
that the people would not judge him by such measures but on the extent to which he addressed critical
issues of governance for which he was voted into power.
The issue is about the President facing the challenges of governance and assembling his team of experts
and capable hands to manage the economy, which has been on the decline since he assumed office. It is
also about allowing the different arms of government, especially the National Assembly to work smoothly
and encourage conducive democratic environment where the rule of law, personal freedom and security of
lives and property are guaranteed.
Perhaps, we may need to draw Mr. President's attention to the growing concern that under his watch
democratic institutions are no longer free. While activities of the National Assembly have been disrupted,
the nation’s electoral body has lost its independence due to the appointment of an Acting Chairman that is
publicly known to have very strong relationship with your good self and key members of your party. We
have also seen flagrant disregard of court orders.
We also wish to bring to your notice, Mr. President that Nigerians are now agitated that this government
has failed to hit the ground running as it promised. They are worried that the President who promised to
unveil his cabinet two weeks after his inauguration in May, has, two months after, not been able to decide
on key appointments such as ministers, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), a Chief of
Staff and advisers in key sectors of the economy.
They are worried by the drifting of government business in ministries, departments and agencies due to the
absence of political heads vested with coordinating of important policies, which are now in tatters and
taking its toll on the economy as indicated in the terrifying crippling of foreign and domestic investments
and harrowing retrogression in the capital market which has continued to lose billions of naira since May
29th.
Instead of engaging in pointless propaganda, the APC and the Presidency should be more concerned about
the decline in the economy with the continued fall in the value of the naira which has descended from
under N200 to the dollar they inherited in May to all time low of N238 even in the face of the President’s
promise to bring it to same value with the US Dollar.
We need to caution that the needless celebration of your party over Monday's change of Service Chiefs is
totally premature considering the corresponding urgency of previous administration in this regard.
Also, as a quick reminder, we wish to notify you that in line with your promises, Nigerians are still eager
for information regarding the five million new jobs, monthly N5, 000 each to 25 million poor citizens,
monthly allowance to discharged but unemployed Youth Corps members, free meals to school children and
bringing the naira to the same value with the dollar; among other promises upon which you and your party
gained access to power.
Finally, Mr. President may we restate that our commitment to constructive opposition is due to our
conviction as major stakeholders in the Nigerian project that whatever success achieved by you is not for
your individual benefit or that of the APC, but for our collective and common good as a country. We will
therefore continue to inform you and indeed all Nigerians about potential areas of derailment, not with the
intention of embarrassing you and your administration, but to bring good governance for the benefit of all
Nigerians.
Signed:
Chief Olisa Metuh
National Publicity Secretary

TRAGIC: Naira Hits A New Low

What is happening?!
The naira has hit a new low against the dollar in the black market. A Nigerian
currency trader says: "It sold for N241 to a dollar on Monday, as importers
banned from accessing hard currency at the official interbank market by the
central bank three weeks ago scramble for hard currency in the unofficial
market"
Another reason for the sharp decline in Naira is due to the low oil prices and
government finances.
Nigerian stocks also fell to a more than three-month low and the Naira hit
another record low on the parallel market on Monday, as central bank
restrictions fed unofficial trade in dollars, traders said.
The local bourse, which has the second-biggest weighting after Kuwait on the
MSCI frontier market index, dropped for the ninth consecutive day as investors
shed banking, consumer and oil shares.
Sub-Saharan Africa’s second biggest stock index closed down 0.32 percent on
Monday, 11.5 percent lower than its 2015 peak, hit on April 2 having soared
12.2 percent in the two sessions after Muhammadu Buhari won a closely-
fought presidential election.
The index of Nigeria’s top 10 consumer goods stocks declined 1.15 percent on
Monday, weighing on the all-share index. The top decliners were Flour Mills ,
Honeywell Flour Mills and Union Bank , all down more than 4.9 percent each.
The central bank has said it would not be focusing on the thinly-traded parallel
market when determining the exchange rate, adding that people preferred to use
the unofficial market for undocumented transactions.

Ciara reacts after Future claimed in an interview that he didn't cheat on her & that he was the one who dumped her

In an interview with HuffPost Live to talk about the his new upcoming album
DS2,#FutureHive The rapper cleared up the numerous rumours surrounding his
break-up with ex-fiancee, Ciara. Speaking on why they broke up, the father of
four said;
Everybody already have their speculation about what happened. I hear a
lot of people say he cheated because I fee like 95% of relationships end
because of cheating but me and her relationship had nothing to do with
cheating"
When asked what ended their relationship, Future explained it had to do with
planning a wedding and claimed he was the one who ended things with Ciara.
Excerpts from the interview after the cut...
"I felt like we were just growing away from each other. We grew apart.
It's just so much dealing when you're in a relationship and you're the
man and you want to make certain decisions for yourself and she wants
to make decisions for herself and I feel like for me, the best route is to
make more music. Go back to Atlanta, go back to my roots to do what
makes me feel good. I called off the engagement way before any cheating
rumours ever came out. I was the one who said this wasn't going to
work.
She wasn't cool about it but she wasn't too mad because I explained it
to her. I told her, I'll marry you today. You want to get married? I'll
marry you but I won't get married with all these different people in my
way. My family have to be there. I'm from the hood, hood people must
be there. And it may be people you don't like, but they love me, and
these are the people I want at my wedding. I don't want all these
industry people at my wedding. I don't want the media there..but you
know when girls have their fairytale wedding, they insist...I told her we
can do that but let's get married quietly today and do that maybe a year
from now. We won't announce it. Let's be married for a year and then
announce that we have been married for a year. To get over a year, I
didn't want all that negative energy because I'm an artist, as soon as I
get married and I go to the strip club, they will be like that's Ciara's
husband in a strip club. If I do something, they will be like, Ciara's
husband...they will always put something on it. And I told her I don't
want all that so just to keep the people out of our business and keep it
personal, let's just get married quietly and tell people a year from now.
And then we can do the big wedding on TV and we would have gone past
the hard part, we would be on our second year and people would think it
was the first..but she didn't understand it at the time. We still were
together, still living together even after that part. We were best friends,
and I told her how I felt that I couldn't do it like that. She was angry
because she had done this shoot with a wedding dress and I felt
embarrassed for her because when you love a person, you don't want
them to be in that situation. We never tweeted or talked to the media
about the engagement being called off but when it eventually came out,
the fans assumed it was because of cheating. It wasn't
The interview apparently didn't go down well with Ciara judging by her
comments on Twitter.

Police in UAE Search for Nigerian Man who Impregnated Unmarried Woman

The Sharjah police are currently searching for a Nigerian building guard who is believed to be the father of
a baby delivered by an unmarried Ethiopian woman at a local hospital.
The woman, 28, gave birth to a baby girl and doctors at Al Qassimi Hospital, one of the more popular
hospitals in the United Arab Emirates, reported her to the police after discovering she is not married.
Newspapers said the woman also absconded from her sponsor nearly nine years ago and was working
with other employers in violation of local labour laws. They said police are hunting for the Nigerian who
disappeared after learning his girlfriend was about to deliver.
It is against the law in UAE for a woman to get pregnant out of wedlock. Anna Ebiere was expelled from
her Dubai University due to her pregnancy for singer Flavour.
