The 1982 painting of two Tahitian girls by the French artist is
titled, Nafea Faa Ipoipo, or When Will You Marry? It was reportedly
bought by a museum in the oil rich Arab nation, Qatar
This won't be the first time the Gulf nation is buying the world's
most expensive painting ..They had set the previous record for an
artwork when it paid $259 million for The Card Players by Paul
Cezanne.
According to the New York Times,the Gaugin artwork had been owned by
Rudolf Staechelin, who has declined to name the buyer.
